  Awkward moment at the WT study today

  when we got to paragraphs 10,11 with the reference to the box at the top of the page - is your teaching up-to-date?

  the conductor asked for an explanation of what the current 'bible truth' was.

  for the first one, 'this generation (matt 24:34) absolutely nobody raised their hand!

  I looked at the magazine from yesterdays study and the references and the new July update, no difference, Don't wade into any JW's with this one its a pile of steaming poop. It has been wrongly identified by the person who started this thread. There are plenty of other thoughts that can be raised by this. Such as: The quote in the magazine says there was no FDS until the "presence" began in 1914. SO, is Russell of the FDS before 1914? Can't be. But was he after 1914? If he was afterwards, why did he continue to teach wrong things afterwards, such as 1874 as the presence start? Did Rutherford start the FDS? If so why did he say that the Holy Spirit no longer provided new understandings, angels did? Was he denying the source? How was that direction from the Holy Spirit? Why did he say in regards to the teaching of 1925 as the year for Armageddon, "I made and ass out of my self on that!" if it was a group of men acting as the FDS? And why does his name alone appear as author of the books published if it was a group of men?

  Lots to think about.

  One memorial held at an Assembly Hall had a brother in his late 80's give thanks over the bread. Good thing it was unleavend. It was a nearly 15 minute epic. I swear the oldsters were sitting down from exhaustion. It was about the last one I atteneded.

  Ok so little JW (21 going on 15) decides to get a job with a computer firm. Leaves family construction company to do so. In time moves out to live with a "Spiritual Loser" and a worldly guy. Little JW's older brother berates and cajoles him for his weakness. The mother is freekin Edith Bunker, airhead and slave to Brother Archie milktoast in this version. Little JW goes to a party with JW Spiritual Loser and they drink too much. Loser drives the car, runs a red light and then speeds away from the cop trying to pull him over. He smahes the car, both are arrested, then little JW is released. He has no one to pick him up and ends up at his worldly roommate's girlfriends place. A little wine, a little coziness, then its fade to black, he gets some action and ends up on the street weeping all night. Comes home, open arms. Boo hoo Jehovah forgive me, I done got sexy.

  Ok is it just me or how many times does a person's room mate get drunk, run from the cops and wreck the car with the owner in it? Ok it may have happened I'm sure, but it this the norm? Isn't it the warped view of some very disturbed religious zeaots? Hell I"m in my fifties and have never met anyone this has happened to. I never had a girl try to bed me so quickly as this blonde he was with. The GB has a warped view of the world. They dont realize that as many good JW girls would do that as there are "worldy" girls.

  From David to Matt the doctor became a childish character. The show demographic dropped to the lowest common denominator. They were sometimes engaging and the Pond and Rory kept it lively but it was OK. Who ever the Doctor is next time let's hope the writing improves beyond the current storyline. Its starting to drag.

  i don't recall self depracation or witty remarks within the witnesses.

  everything was always so heavy.

  i suspect that a person with wit, despecially dry wit, would find themselve in trouble.

  My humor was already suspiscious to the cult members. A CO and i had lunch one day and he asked when I was baptized. i said Feb. of 74. I asked him the same. He said 1975. So I asked, "Before Oct. or after?". He laughed and said after. That was my humor. He knew exactly what I was talking about. So it was stuff like that that some took to heart. Ok so what already? I'm done with it.

  ok i walked out on austin powers because i thought it was so crude and god dishonoring.

  since the fade i think it is very funny, still not a favorite but not the end of the world either.

  any movies that were a big sin are nothing now?
